"Eye of the Tiger" (First Impressions)

Reservation/Wait Time: Bombay Cafe is tucked away in a quiet strip mall, making it feel like a hidden gem among restaurants in Boca Raton Florida. Despite the calm atmosphere, it’s easy to walk in without reservations, especially if you prefer takeout.

Initial Thoughts: I’ve always been a huge fan of Indian food, and on my quest for the best Indian food in Boca Raton, Bombay Cafe has quickly risen to the top. The menu features a great selection of traditional Indian dishes, including some less common items like choley batura, bhel puri, and chicken hariyali tikka. These unique dishes set Bombay Cafe apart from other restaurants in Boca Raton, and I’m eager to try them in the future. For this visit, I opted for two new dishes: chicken reshmi kebab and shrimp bhuna, both of which delivered on flavor and quality.

"Hungry Like the Wolf" (Signature Dishes)

The Bombay Cafe menu offers a wide array of flavorful dishes, making it one of the best restaurants in Boca Raton for authentic Indian food. Here’s a breakdown of what I tried:

  • Chicken Reshmi Kebab: You could hear the sizzling chicken reshmi kebabs coming from a mile away. Served on a hot skillet, the portion was massive, but the quality of the boneless white chicken was equally impressive. The combination of onions, green peppers, cashew nut paste, yogurt, garlic, coriander, ginger, and butter baked in a clay oven resulted in tender, flavorful chunks that lived up to the dish’s name—“reshmi,” meaning “silk.” This is easily one of the best Indian dishes I’ve had in Boca Raton. Rating: 9/10
  • Shrimp Bhuna: The shrimp bhuna was tangy, fiery, and packed with flavor. Simmered in garlic, ginger, tomatoes, parsley, and peppers, this dish brought the heat! It was served with about eight perfectly cooked shrimp. Just give it a few minutes to cool down before diving in, and you’ll be able to savor its spicy goodness. Rating: 8.5/10
  • Garlic Naan: No Indian meal is complete without naan. The garlic naan was fluffy, flavorful, and perfect for scooping up the saucy shrimp bhuna. It also helped cool things down when “The Heat is On” like Glenn Frey. Rating: 8/10
  • Sweet Lassi: A much-needed antidote to the spiciness of the shrimp bhuna. This traditional yogurt-based drink helped balance out the heat and was refreshing throughout the meal. If you haven’t tried lassi before, it’s a delicious drink packed with protein and Vitamin B12. Rating: 7.5/10

I was amazed and puzzled by how my food was cooked to perfection in just 5-7 minutes. How DO they do it?

"Every Breath You Take" (Service Experience)

Staff Attitude: The staff at Bombay Cafe was friendly and accommodating, making my experience smooth and enjoyable. Even though the restaurant was quiet during my visit, the staff remained attentive and welcoming. They were happy to answer any questions I had, ensuring that I had the best possible experience at this Indian restaurant in Boca Raton.

Service Speed: The food arrived quickly—within 5-7 minutes, which was impressive given the complexity of Indian dishes. I was amazed at how the kitchen executed everything so perfectly in such a short time.

"Take On Me" (Ambiance & Atmosphere)

Bombay Cafe has a simple, casual interior, but the focus here is on the food rather than the ambiance. The quiet setting was a bit unexpected, especially for one of the best Indian restaurants in Boca Raton, but it created a peaceful atmosphere for enjoying a relaxing meal.

Noise Level: The silence in the restaurant was noticeable. With only a few tables occupied and most patrons opting for takeout, the dining room felt eerily quiet. While it wasn’t ideal for a vibrant dining experience, it might be a great spot for those who prefer a more serene atmosphere.

Crowd: Most customers appeared to be ordering takeout during my visit, likely due to current circumstances. However, Bombay Cafe remains a popular choice for those seeking a top rated restaurant in Boca, whether for dine-in or takeout.

"She Works Hard for the Money" (Price & Value)

Overall Cost: Bombay Cafe offers great value for the portion sizes and high-quality dishes. Prices are reasonable for anyone looking to enjoy Indian food Boca Raton style, making it a great option for both casual dinners, Indian buffets, and takeout.

Worth It?: Absolutely. The portion sizes, flavor, and variety make Bombay Cafe a top contender among the restaurants in Boca.

"Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" (Final Verdict)

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

Best For:

  • Fans of Indian cuisine looking for authentic flavors beyond the typical staples
  • Diners seeking a quiet, casual Indian restaurant in Boca Raton
  • Those who prefer takeout but still want top-tier Indian food

Would I Return?: Yes! Though the quiet atmosphere wasn’t ideal for a lively evening out, the food more than made up for it. I’d consider ordering takeout next time to enjoy the delicious flavors of Bombay Indian Restaurant in the comfort of my own home.
