ToggleCrema in West Palm Beach
Note: Crema is now permanently closed, but what follows was my experience.
After not being that impressed by my soup, appetizer and main course at an overpriced fancy restaurant in the neighborhood, I opted to have dessert somewhere else. I went on the Yelp app and searched for an ice cream shop, and Crema was listed as #1. I’ve been cutting down tremendously on sugars and sweets, but man, was I craving ice cream. I went on a short walk down there on a quiet Saturday night, and found the best rolled ice cream in South Florida.
Options, Options, Options
Crema boasts a plethora of options, but the main draw here is the Thai rolled ice cream. I went with the It’s Your World option. I chose chocolate with 3 toppings—condensed milk, activated charcoal, and peanut butter cups, but I decided to get a 4th and also chose fudge mint cookies (for a small upcharge). My all-time favorite ice cream flavor combinations are chocolate and peanut butter; and chocolate and mint. So, you could imagine my excitement combining all these ingredients. Most toppings are gluten-free and some are vegan. The activated charcoal was for coloring; it made the chocolate look like dark chocolate.
The only other time I had rolled ice cream was in San Diego. Boy, was I impressed with Crema! It was DELICIOUS! All the flavors blended together perfectly, to form a yummy, dark chocolate forest. I was so happy!
Toppings Aplenty
You can choose lots of toppings, including fruits and the usual suspects such as sprinkles, roasted marshmallow, crackers, pretzels, wafers, 2 types of butter, 3 types of drizzle, and cereals like Cap’n Crunch, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruity Pebbles. With 27 available toppings, the combinations are endless! Milkshakes and smoothies are available, too, as well as soft serve in a variety of artisanal waffle cones. Vegan ice cream is available as well.

Décor and Conclusion
The décor is simplistic and modern—wooden floors, gray walls, and the lighting fixtures looked futuristic. No need to spend “One Night in Bangkok” to enjoy Thai rolled ice cream, Crema’s got it covered. Even though Crema in West Palm Beach and Delray Beach have closed like many other businesses, I thought it was important to let people know how good it was. What a shame it closed. Note: The location in Delray Beach reopened as “Crème”, serving both ice cream and food. There are other Crema locations, especially in Miami, but they are bistros which serve ice cream and food. As of today, it was still my favorite ice cream in South Florida.
